Old Derbeian Missing
Squadron Leader Lionel V. Andrews (29), of the R.A.F., an Old Derbeian, has been reported missing since the night of September 8-9 when he went on night operations, presumably over Germany.
Squadron Leader Andrews is the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Andrews, formerly of Derby and now of Clapham Park London. Mr. Andrews was for many years head brewer at Messrs. Strettons old brewery in Ashbourne Road.
On leaving Derby School, Squadron Leader Andrews went to the R.A.F. Cadet College at Cranwell, and was serving in the Air Ministry on the outbreak of war. He was posted to a bomber squadron in May.
His brother, Captain J. S. V. Andrews, who also went to Derby School, is in the Army.
